About Ronny | |
|
Hi I'm Ronny. I am a little over a year old, which means I still have puppy playfulness in me, but am starting to mature into a big boy :) I LOVE to play with my foster brothers, run around outside, wrestle and my absolute favorite thing in the world is chewing on Nylabones. Sometimes I just can't help myself from chewing on them for hours!
My life has changed a lot since coming into GPPR and going to my foster home. I no longer have to live outside in all sort of weather conditions. Now I am in a nice warm home with soft blankets and pillows for me to lay on. The transition from outside to inside was really easy for me. I am fully potty trained, and my foster brothers (another German Shorthair and a Beagle) took me under their wings, taught me house rules, how to play and where the best spots are to take naps. They even let me snuggle with them! I also now know that it is ok to play and wrestle, but when I bite too hard it hurts, so I don't bite as hard and that makes them want to continue to play! This is a whole new world for me! :)
I like to take walks. The leash and I have to have a power struggle for the first couple of blocks, but I am beginning to understand that the less I pull the more I get to walk and I LOVE the fresh air and spending time with my humans. I am still learning basic commands, but am told daily that I am a good boy and that I am really starting to get it (whatever that means). I know sit, off, leave it and lay down. I like to work for treats and earn priviliges, like cuddling on the couch with my foster family and brothers. I also like to watch TV and music always makes my ears go up as I try to figure out where the sounds are coming from.
My foster parents sometimes use big words to describe me. They use words like "entertaining" and "hilarious" when they talk about me. Sometimes when watching me play they make strange sounds that I think is called laughing. They say I sound like a gremlin when I play, but it's just my own personalized growl! I am inquisitive and like to investigate the house to make sure there isn't anything I am missing out on. Sometimes I get in trouble when I pick up things that aren't mine and carry them around the house (like slippers, gloves, socks, etc). I don't chew on them or destroy them, I just like to carry them around!
I have been around cats and I like them (more than they like me!). I am curious about them and want to play and don't feel the need to stalk or pounce on them. I LOVE other dogs and do well with big dogs and little dogs. I also like little humans. Sometimes I get excited when I first meet them (they are more my size and smell so good!) so I have to be watched and corrected to not jump on them. I like them so much that I don't even mind them pulling my tail or ears!
I have learned a lot but still have a lot to learn. I will benefit from continued general obedience training and reinforcement of the rules I have already learned. I go into my kennel at night and during the day when my foster family is gone. This is for my own safety, as I am not at the point where I have earned the privilige of being left out alone and I don't yet fully understand what is ok and not ok. I am still a puppy after all, so I need to be supervised to keep me out of trouble. I would much rather be out with my humans, so I sometimes still put up a fuss for a few minutes after I am put in my kennel, but then I settle down.
I would really love to find my forever family. I am a good boy who is learning more and more everyday. I have really good energy, but also love to settle down and snuggle or chew on bones. I am looking for an active family that can address my energy and exercise needs so we can all be happy. Please let GPPR know if you would like to find out more information on me or would like to meet me!
He is located in Altoona IA.
