My name is Hayley, but most folks call me Good Girl. They also say I’m a “dream dog” and “an easy keep!” I’ve been in my GPPR foster home for almost three months now and my life has changed so much! When I came to rescue I had a reputation for being crabby, but in reality, there’s not a crabby bone in my body! It just took the right people to understand me and recognize what I needed to feel better.

First, I’m a people dog all the way. I’m looking for a forever home with nice adults or older children who can give me a LOT of head scratches and include me in their daily routine. I love to be with my humans as much as possible, so I’m happy to go with the flow! If my humans want to sleep in, I’ll sleep in too! If they want to go on an adventure, I’ll be right there on the trail or the lake with them! If they want to take a trip, I’m more than happy to come along because I L-O-V-E  R-I-D-E-S. (Foster Mom doesn’t know I can spell that. Joke’s on her!) Smaller kids make me a little nervous, so I would prefer not to live with them and I’d rather have some alone time in my room if they come to visit. Same goes for other pets. I’m a much happier camper when I’m the only dog in the room.
Second, you may not have noticed because I look so good, but I’m an older lady at almost ten years old. I’m looking for a family who can help me feel great in my senior years . Foster Mom is helping me manage some hip and back pain with medicine. It’s really gross, but it’s totally worth it because now I can run up and down stairs, chase geese, go for long walks, and jump onto the couch like I used to! My eyesight isn’t 100% anymore, so sometimes when it’s dark I have to get really close to see what’s in front of me. I also need to take a few extra potty breaks these days. As long as I get outside regularly throughout the day, I’ve got the house training thing down. Last call for water is at 10 pm and I can sleep through the whole night without a potty break. I hope you won’t hold these things against me because I really am a young dog at heart!

Foster Mom might say I have a couple of bad habits, like hogging the bed, tailgating (following the humans around too closely), and turning off my ears when I’m chasing birds (I learned that one from my foster bro) but *I* would prefer to talk about my strengths instead! I’m a really good leash walker and I only pull very occasionally when I see a critter I have to chase or a human I have to greet. I know my name and a few basic commands, like “sit” and “wait”. I’m not much of a talker. I never chew on things I shouldn’t. I’m an excellent traveler, even on long trips. I’m the greatest cuddler in the whole wide world. And best of all, I’m the most loyal friend you could ever ask for.

Hayley is being fostered in South Dakota.
